SCN:TwentyTen – Call for Works

(A brief note to all: in our original email call for works there was an erroneous reference to an optional fee for feedback on submitted works. This is not actually an option offered by SCN. The only fee is the $5 entry fee. We apologize for any confusion the email may have caused.)

Calling all: electroacousticians, composers, musicians, sound artists, noise designers, aural engineers, audio tinkerers, etc., etc. from anywhere at any time.

To a: call for works for SoundCrawl:Nashville 2010. We are looking for stereo works not longer than 7 minutes in AIFF format. Submitted files must be titled as LastName_PieceTitle. Video projection is available this year in one space. Submitted video files must be formatted in h.264 .mp4 with the same time restrictions and stereo sound. There are no live performances.

The call: will be open from March 1st to August 1st, 2010.

To submit visit: our submission page. In an effort to go green we are accepting only online submissions this year. Submissions will be sent via YouSendIt.com and payment through our paypal account.

Details, details: Submissions must include a short biography of the artist and a program note of the work (both limited to 1,000 characters) and some technical info (software/hardware used, etc.). Cost of submission is $5 per work (major credit cards and foreign currencies are accepted). A selection of the top pieces will be chosen for our “MainStage” in the center of the Arcade for performances throughout the evening.

Welcome back, Crawlers!

We’ve started working on SCN:TwentyTen and things are up and running. The new site is online, as well as our completely electronic submission process! In an effort to go green, our submission process is completely online this year. Profile info is gathered on our submit page and your file is now uploaded through our YouSendIt.com account. There is also a small entry fee this year (a measly $5) which will help support our organizational needs this fall. Check it out and send something our way!

Two Week Press!!

Hey all…less than two weeks from now we will be putting new things into the ears of Nashville’s art crawling public! We are working on some small details at this point but – until the crazy of load-in – it seems to be the relative calm before the storm. Our focus now seems to be spreading word…

Check out our write-up on the Nashville Scene’s blog.

Because of the write-up, we were contacted and asked to interview with WDBX-FM in Southern Illinois. The interview will be the morning of the event – October 3rd – at 6:00 AM. Listen online!

And finally…we were asked to be an NPR feature here in Nashville on WPLN! The interview is happening today, but I am not sure when it will air. I will let you know when I find something out.

It’s Time to Crawl Through Sound.

Hey all…

I trust you had a good holiday weekend (it was Labor Day here in the US). I spent the day far away from anything that requires electricity. And saw more bears than I did people. It was a good and needed break. BUT….WE ARE LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY!!! And we are excited to see things coming together. Last week we crunched to get the posters printed and they are good to go. For those in the Nash: keep your eye out for these beauties created up for us by Joe and if you have any locations that might be needing one…lemme know! And feel free to take a few a post ‘em around…
